ZZ Dogs Promote Literacy Among Children
New Children's Book Series Provides Important Lessons

(PHOENIX, Ariz.) Smokey the Bear taught children to stay away from fire while McGruff spoke out about the dangerous effects of drugs. Animals have found homes in the hearts of many families while others have found fame through teaching children important life-long lessons. Author T.S. Franks introduces new animals in her children's book, ZZ Dogs (ZZ Dogs Press, May 2003, ISBN: 0-9722304-0-8, $15.99). Based on the zany antics of her two Jack Russell Terriers, Franks teaches children the value of literacy while promoting a message of self-esteem.

ZZ Dogs is the first story in a series that describes the escapades of Zeb and ZeeZee. Their first adventure begins when Zeb finds his short, stubby legs the center of ZeeZee's jokes. To prove to his fellow friend that he too can be tall and fast, Zeb escapes to a nearby pasture where he soon finds himself making friends with a baby horse. The adventure that ensues tests Zeb's strength, tolerance and friendship with ZeeZee.

Unlike many of today's children's books, the adventures throughout the ZZ Dogs series are based on the real life actions of Frank's two adorable pets. With life-like illustrations and simple text, Franks not only teaches self-confidence but how to be responsible pet owners and the importance of reading in our children's lives.

"The road to success for our children and grandchildren begins with reading," says Franks. "It is the foundation on which to build confidence, self-worth and self-esteem. Through reading comes knowledge and through knowledge comes opportunities."

Franks is the founder of ZZ Dogs™ Press, an imprint of That's Life Publishing and a member of the "Publisher's Marketing Association" and the "Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators." Aside from the ZZ Dogs book series, the company will offer stuffed animals, dog collars, dog treats and other products, all based on the two ZZ Dogs.
